I’ve made this painting at a very important and decisive moment in my life.

I come from a Caribbean country, where the sun never stops shining, the people smile and the music always plays. However, crime and lack of opportunities were also always present and made me make the difficult decision to leave the country that saw me grow up.

Almost 5 years later, when I thought that I was already established in my new home, I made the decision to move to Switzerland because of love.

I asked myself: am I so brave as to start again in a different country, with a culture that is VERY different from mine and with a language that is nothing like my mother tongue? -It took me a long time to process it- But the answer was «YES, I am.»

And so this painting was born with these two different directions or »Rumbos» I’ve taken in my life.  Why did I decide to paint it red? For me, red represents love. Love for myself, for my courage and for my perseverance. Love to believe that nothing is impossible when there is love.
